Who doesn’t love a good ol’ peanut butter and jelly sandwich? Biting into a PB&J takes me right back to my childhood and it never gets old or goes out of style. But today, my friends, we are taking the PB&J into happy hour with this super delicious Peanut Butter Jelly Thyme Cocktail featuring a super unique whiskey that actually tastes like peanut butter!
Did you say Peanut Butter Whiskey??
You heard me right! Skrewball Whiskey is an award winning whiskey that tastes like peanut butter. So for today, April 2nd, which just so happens to be National Peanut Butter & Jelly Day, we teamed up to create a delicious cocktail featuring the nostalgic PB&J flavors from your childhood, with a class and bold adult upgrade. And of course, we named this the Peanut Butter Jelly Thyme Cocktail!
*Breaks out in song* “Where he at? Where he at? Where he at? Now, there he go! There he go! There he go!”….
I digress. If you know, you know. But if you don’t, please do us a favor and visit HERE for video/song or HERE for context.
Back to the peanut butter whiskey…
Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey was developed in San Diego and is great as a shot, neat, on the rocks, as well as a premium cocktail like the one we created here. This flavored whiskey is unlike anything you’ve tried before, so if you aren’t typically a whiskey drinker, we encourage you to give this a try and be pleasantly surprised by the smooth, nutty flavor.

You can find Skrewball at most liqueur stores, so don’t skip the whiskey aisle next time you are shopping!
How do you make the Peanut Butter Jelly Thyme Cocktail?
This cocktail is quite simple to make and only requires a few ingredients. The Peanut Butter Jelly Thyme is a twist on a traditional manhattan, but uses Peanut Butter Whiskey and blackberry liqueur instead. For a traditional manhattan, you would combine whiskey (usually Rye whiskey), with sweet vermouth, Angostura aromatic bitters, with a maraschino cherry, such as Luxardo.
For our twist on the classic, we combined Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey with blackberry liqueur, Angostura aromatic bitters stirred in a bar glass with ice and 1 sprig of thyme. This is then poured into a martini glass and served with a fresh blackberry and thyme sprig for garnish.
When drinking this you will feel classy AF, and at the same time feel like a kid on the playground at lunch enjoying that PB&J! The blackberry liqueur gives it a nice berry flavor without being overly sweet and the thyme provides a nice, subtle herbal note to give it a little something extra!
We like serving this in a martini glass, but a coupe glass, low ball or rocks glass (if you prefer it over ice) all work well for this drink.

To make this cocktail:
Simply add Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey, blackberry liqueur, bitters, and thyme spring to a bar glass with ice. With a cocktail mixing spoon stir until contents have chilled (about 30 second of stirring will do). Then strain contents into a chilled glass, add your blackberry and thyme garnishes and serve!
How strong is the Peanut Butter Jelly Thyme Cocktail?
Skrewball comes in fairly strong at 70 proof (35% alcohol) and then we add the blackberry liqueur which is typically around 30-35 proof (around 15-17% alcohol) depending on the brand – we like THIS one. So, short answer, yes, this ends up being a pretty strong cocktail overall, although it tastes so good and goes down easy!
Enjoy!
