    Our Story

Cooking With Wine is a place to discover your next favorite recipe!

Recipe Development, Food Photographery, and Content Creation.

    Our Story

Hello! We are Angela and Mark and welcome to our foodie adventures here on Cooking with Wine. In this blog we share our story and passion about all things food including our original recipes, wine pairings, cooking tips, recreating our favorite dishes from our travels, and finding creative ways to incorporate unique ingredients into our meals. We find happiness in this journey, and strive to discover our next favorite meal with you!

Our food story and how we ended up here is one that took many years to fall into place, and it was never something we planned for.

    Mark's Passion for Cooking

Mark has always had a passion for cooking and started from an early age. Throughout the years, he cooked his way through many cookbooks, watched cooking shows on repeat, and experimented with unique ingredients. For most of his life, this was mostly a hobby and something he did for fun for himself.

Cooking Together and Starting the Blog

Skipping ahead to 2016, Mark and I met in a wine bar of all places! And although I admittedly did not enjoy cooking, I did however see myself as a self-proclaimed foodie who loved to explore food and cultures especially when traveling. And I really enjoyed when Mark cooked for me!

We traveled together, took many cooking classes in various places we visited, cooked together over FaceTime while we dated long distance, and found our passion for cooking as a team together in the kitchen.

After I moved to Texas in Fall of 2017, cooking started to become a daily activity and we shared what we were making on social media for our friends and family to see. Soon, we started getting requests for our recipes and we realized we needed a place for our creations so that others could easily access them. Eventually we took the plunge and started Cooking with Wine.

    Creating Drool-Worthy Imagery

We soon realized that having quality images is critical in this space, and I took out my old DSLR and watched hours of Youtube videos to learn as much as I could with the goal of capturing drool-worthy images so that people would want to give our recipes a try. After diving deeper into online courses, lighting, and better equipment, I found my style and fell in love with food photography. Now, photography and this blog is my full-time job, and I absolutely love it!

    Mark's Culinary Career

At the end of 2020 after a year of quarantine and life changes, including job changes and moving to Houston, Mark decided to check off a life-long bucket list item and enroll in culinary school. The 50-week program at Culinary Institute LeNotre was intense to say the least, but now Mark is a classically trained chef and will earn his Elite Diplôme de Cuisine in December 2021.

We would have never imagined that this blog, recipe development and food photography would be our journey, but now that we are here, we could not imagine a better place to be! We get to do something we love together as our job every day! What more could we want in life?
