Soup season may just be one of our favorite seasons! What is better than a delicious bowl of soup or stew to warm you up on a chilly day? To get you as excited as we are for soup and stew season, check out some of our favorite ways to enjoy the season with these 7 Cozy Soups and Stews!
1. Restaurant Style French Onion Soup
Do you remember the best French Onion Soup you ever had at a restaurant? Well, this one was inspired by the best restaurant version we've ever had, and let me tell you, it fits the bill!
2. Cozy Homemade Chicken and Dumplings
Chicken and Dumplings has been a lifelong favorite of mine (Angela's), and I would request it for every special occasion growing up! Our version is similar to the one I grew up on, but made from scratch rather than using any canned or boxed ingredients. It is packed with hearty flavor yet the soup is a bit lighter than most versions.
3. Spiced Carrot Ginger and Fennel Soup
Carrot is often under-appreciated as a main ingredient in a dish, although it is almost always included in a variety of soups! This Carrot Soup will make you appreciate the humble carrot in all its glory!
4. Easy Homemade Creamy Clam Chowder
This clam chowder is one of those soups that warms the heart and soul! We love serving this in a sourdough bread bowl just like we used to enjoy on the California Coast and Bay Area.
5. Chili with Kidney Beans
Chili is another wonderfully easy dish to throw together on a weeknight when schedules are hectic and no one wants to spend hours in the kitchen. Our version of Chili with Kidney beans is another family recipe that we have tweaked over the years. We love to enjoy this chili with homemade garlic bread on a cold evening.
6. Guinness Beef Stew
After a trip to Ireland a few years ago, we knew we need to create a Guinness Beef Stew like the ones we enjoyed on our trip. This is our version, and we absolutely can't get enough of it!
7. Pumpkin and Roasted Red Pepper Soup
Pumpkin season may be coming to a close, but we love making this soup whenever we have pumpkin puree on hand. We even buy extra pumpkin puree in the height of pumpkin season so that we can enjoy this soup whenever the mood hits us!
Enjoy!
