Blackberries are such a delicious berry with a beautiful deep color. Empress 1908 gin and blackberries go so well together, and we especially love it in this drink and with the addition of mint. The flavors really pop! Blackberries have an underrated flavor that is both sweet and tart but entirely unique compared to other berries. This Muddled Blackberry and Mint Gin Cocktail with Empress 1908 gin is delicious and refreshing with a hint of mint!

What You Need to Make this Drink

This cocktail isn't difficult to make with just a few ingredients. Muddled fresh blackberries and fresh mint are the basis of the cocktail. The alcohol used in this drink is Empress 1908 gin along with blackberry liqueur. The blackberry liqueur is added to enhance the natural flavor of the blackberries.

A little simple syrup helps with sweetening the tartness of the blackberries a bit and the sparkling wine gives this cocktail even more liveliness without watering it down. The end result is a deep purple, beautiful showcase with one of our favorite gins, Empress 1908.

    Homemade Simple Syrup

Simple syrup is easy to make at home. We generally like to keep a bottle of simple syrup in our fridge to use for a number of drinks. We prefer a 2:1 simple syrup, meaning two parts sugar to one part water. Simply combine these ingredients over medium heat and simmer for about 10 minutes until all the sugar has dissolved. Then remove from the heat and cool before transferring to an air tight container or using in a cocktail. You can store 2:1 simple syrup in the fridge for up to 6 months.

    Enjoy!
