    Tequila Bee Sting Cocktail

The Tequila Bee Sting is sweet and balanced with a little heat from the hot pepper honey at the end!

Tequila is one of the world's most popular liquors and one that is quite interesting and beautiful, if you get your hands on a quality version. When you use good tequila, the flavor of the cocktail will surely be enhanced, and you’ll be rewarded. This cocktail capitalizes on a great tequila with the addition of hot pepper honey, a combo of blood orange and pomegranate juices, ginger bitters and a splash of Prosecco.

What gives this cocktail a sting?

Hot pepper honey is the oddball ingredient, and it certainly elevates the resulting cocktail. The sweetness of the honey and spiciness of the pepper infusion just works perfectly with tequila. There are tons of artisan honeys infused with peppers, so pick your favorite and acknowledge the peppers used…we favor habanero but we know that’s not for everyone!

Alternatively, you can make your own pepper-infused honey by chopping up your favorite peppers (fresh or dried, or a combo) and heating them with honey over medium heat in a small saucepan for about 10 minutes. Strain out the solids and keep your honey in a jar to enjoy whenever you want.

The rest of the ingredients should be easy enough to find, especially in fall and winter when blood oranges and pomegranates are in season.

    Finishing Touches

The other nice addition is Prosecco. Just a touch at the end brings enough bubbles, but it does noticeably lighten up the Bee Sting.

We like to garnish this cocktail with a chunk of honeycomb for fun, but this is completely optional. Other garnishes could include pomegranate seeds, dried orange wheels (find out how to make them at home HERE) or fresh blood orange slices.
